The Importance of Art
"Tax
dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high
school. Public high schools should be about training young people to
enter the workforce. Period."
I disagree with this statement, because school is more than just about being trained for the workforce. It is also about training your brain to think and be creative. Arts classes help students learn to be creative and think outside the box. Arts classes help students develop skills that will be useful throughout life, such as attention to detail, confidence, and patience. Tax dollars spent on arts is money well spent, because students who participate in arts classes are overall more well rounded students. It is beneficial to teach students skills beyond just working.
